The Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) Credential

The Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) Credential is now hosted by the American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC).

AHA-CC designs and administers Certification Programs to recognize mastery of well-defined bodies of knowledge within health care management disciplines. Benefits of the CAVS Credential

The Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) credential is the volunteer management credential available through the Association for Health Care Volunteer Resource Professionals (AHVRP), a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association. CAVS status provides both internal and external rewards to those working in healthcare settings. CAVS certificants enjoy the pride of recognition of being among the elite in a critical field of healthcare. CAVS is a premier credential based on a sound assessment that provides distinction in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

The CAVS Exam

The CAVS exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions that address topics in the CAVS Content Outline, a document approved by the AHVRP Board of Directors and 25 pre-test questions which are not included in the overall score but are used as possible questions for a future version of the CAVS exam. The CAVS exam is a timed exam, taken within 135 minutes or 2 hours and 15 minutes. Also approved by the AHVRP Board of Directors is the passing score, which is 69% for CAVS exams. The CAVS exam is updated by the CAVS Test Committee, a group of CAVS-certified AHVRP members.
