You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear about a high-impact, high-value back service with proven potential to truly impact quality of care and patient satisfaction. Volunteer Nurses are taking in-service volunteer programs to a totally new level, and catching the attention of senior management teams across the country. Hear from a panel of volunteer staff and volunteer nurses from hospitals with successful implementations of a volunteer nurse program, each with a slightly different twist. Now more than ever, Directors of Volunteer Services need to re-focus their attention to the bedside. Leave this session with the beginnings of your own action plan!

Not only has the program been very successful at their medical center, but she has consulted with over 60 hospitals to establish similar programs. The program has received the American Hospital Association’s HAVE Award for in-patient excellence in May 2005. The AHVRP recognized the program with its Extraordinary Award in August 2007 and the Missouri Association of Directors of Volunteer Services (MADVS) Award for Excellence in November 2007.

Gerry O’Shaughnessy is the manager of Volunteer Services at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, for 12 years. Riverside is a 1,000 + bed hospital and part of OhioHealth, a not-for-profit health system in Central Ohio with 1,250 + volunteers.
