Award for Excellence

Purpose
To recognize individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service and contribution to the Society and to the profession of healthcare volunteer management.

Eligibility
The applicant must be an AHVRP member with a minimum of five (5) years membership in AHVRP. Current AHVRP board members are ineligible. AHVRP committee and subcommittee chairpersons not serving as board members may be nominated for this award.

Criteria
The following criteria represent the qualities identified by the AHVRP board to be most demonstrative of the nominee's contribution and commitment to the profession of healthcare volunteer management. A nominee must fulfill all criteria to be considered for the award:

Leadership role in advancing the practice of healthcare volunteer management.
Responsible for major contributions to the advancement of the profession of volunteer management through leadership innovations, implementation of new programs, management initiatives, authorship, teaching, research in healthcare volunteer management, etc.
Active participation in AHVRP, e.g. service on the Board of Directors, committees, subcommittees, and such focused activities as presenter, author, etc.
Active participation in local, regional or state Affiliated Group and volunteer management organizations.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Application
An AHVRP member may nominate an individual, but individuals may not nominate themselves. Board members may not participate in the nomination process. The nominator must provide comprehensive information about the nominee in order to demonstrate the nominee's eligibility by completing the nomination form. Individuals may receive the award one time only, but may be nominated again if not selected. All applications must be sent by email on attached form. Additional comments and/or resumes are NOT allowed.

Submission of Nominations
Nomination forms must be submitted by email to Audrey Harris, AHVRP Executive Director, at aharris@aha.org.

Deadline for Nominations
All forms must be submitted no later than June 16, 2008.

Selections Process
All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the AHVRP Board of Directors according to established criteria; a summary is included in this narrative. Selection is based solely on the information provided-please be comprehensive. In situations that the board deems to be meritorious, a designation of honorable mention may be conferred upon a nominee.

Notification
The award will be presented at the annual conference by the presiding society president.
