SAL ListServ
Listserv Overview & Instructions
The American Hospital Association (AHA) has created a automated email discussion groups for State Auxiliary Leaders designed for interactive discussions with your peers. The Listserv is designed to improve communication and recieve immediate answers to your questions from your peers it also offers a forum for exchanging ideas, that allow you to tap into your community and benefit from the experience, knowledge, and wisdom of your peers.

Subscribing/Unsubcribing to the Lists
SAL are automatically signed up to participate in the email lists. To unsubscribe email asdvslist-sal@aha.org and write " Unsubscribe Me" in both the subject line and body of the email.

Not Receiving Messages
Send email to : asdvslist_sal@aha.org and write, "Subscribe Me" in both the subject line and body of the email.

Sending a Message
To send a mesage to your peers send an email to: asdvs-aha-sal@ahals.aha.org

Replying to a Message
There are two ways to reply:
1. Send the message to the entire list by the hitting "reply" button or
2. Reply directly to a member of the list, by copying and pasting his/her email address into the "to" line in your message.

Identify yourself with a signature tag in all messages. Include your name, association, location, telephone number, and email address.

Listserv Etiquette

  • Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location, and email address.
  • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject. Your message will not be released to your peers if a descriptive subject is not include in the subject line.
  • Include only the relevant portions of the original message in your reply. Delete any header information, and put your response before the original posting.
  • Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information that everyone can benefit from.
  • Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals--not to the entire list. Do this by using your email application's forwarding option and typing in or cutting and pasting in the email address of the individual to whom you want to respond.
  • Do not send administrative messages, such as remove me from the list, through the Listserv. Instead, use the Web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply change your settings.
  • Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says "Long Message."

Email Format Options
There are two ways you can receive your messages see below. To change your format email asdvs-sal@ahals.aha.org and include in the subject line and body of the email "Change Email Format" and indicate which you prefer.

  • Mail = receieve messages as they are posted
  • Digest = recieve one daily message with all the contributions for the day
  • No Mail = receive no mail from this mailing list (great for when you are on extended leave or vacation, and this option still allows you to access the list archives.)
